Healing with Ecstatic Dance

You may be wondering why I am talking about dancing as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist! Well let me explain…

What we eat has a huge effect on the way the body can operate. The food we eat becomes a part of us so we must take care to include foods of a high vibration in order to keep our own vibration high. This means trying to eat organic when possible, cutting out all the rubbish and including nourishing foods and nutrients for our own individual needs.

However, there is so much more to a Naturopathic Nutritional therapy than diet. I also recognise that there are other factors that we need to consider when working towards healing.

Every thought and emotion has its own vibrational frequency and we have the power to change that vibrational frequency! It is said that fear has the lowest frequency and love creates the highest. Now, more than ever- we all need to keep our vibration high. It is important for all of us to ensure our diet is the most nurturing it can be but another large part of this therapy is addressing other aspects of the way you live, think and feel.

You can apply this awareness of the Quantum Mechanics of thoughts and Energy of Emotions to your health. The body has trillions of cells. Each cell has its own energetic signature or wave frequency that is highly sensitive to your thoughts and emotions.

We are seeing so many beautiful methods of energy healing from around the world that are helping us do this become more commonly used again such as meditation, yoga and reiki.

Cave paintings from 40,000 years ago depict people dancing wildly and Ecstatic dance like most of these other practices is nothing new but it is becoming increasingly popular and remembered.

An Ecstatic dance is typically shared with a gathering of people in order to feel and connect with the other energies around you. The music starts slow at first and you can allow your body to stretch, bend and flow to the music. For Ecstatic dance virgins this can feel like quite a strange moment! The music ramps up over time and the key is to feel and be inspired by the music and the dancers around you. You let the body move in any way it wants to without the fear of judgment of those around you.

Many people are used to dancing only in nightclubs or bars fuelled with alcohol and so many of us have forgotten the importance of dance in every culture around the world. It is healing for the mind, body and spirit.

I would say that all disease is caused by stress and I’m not just talking emotional stress. There are many stressors on the body that I will consider when analysing a case as everyone will be exposed to certain stressors more than others but profound emotional stress is becoming increasingly common and it takes a huge toll on the body. It is often the most difficult aspect for people to address. Anything we can do to release trauma, improve our vibration and mental state is worth a try and Ecstatic dance is an excellent tool to explore…plus it doesn’t need to cost money like many other therapies. Although a big aspect of ecstatic dance is being around other people, there is nothing stopping you from trying it out in your living room!

There are lots of options on Youtube but here is an example to get you started!
