6 Great Finds in NW6

I hope you are all having a joyous day and enjoying the freedom of life, rather than being chained to your desks at work. I thought I'd give you a little review of a few sexy places I've experience in the north west neck of the woods. If you don't have any plans on this glorious day, maybe give one of them a go - promise you won't be disappointed!

1) The Black Lion

274 Kilburn High Road, London, NW6 2BY

Black Lion Kilburn

I feel blessed that this lovely pub is my local. It has such a relaxed ambience and the low lighting makes it cosy and warming, perfect for date nights or a catch up with your pals. They do a tapas menu alongside a main menu which is great for sharing or trying new things. They have a dining room too if you’d prefer more of a restaurant style evening. On Sundays they offer your traditional roast dinner with a choice of meats. NOMNOM. What more could you want? This is not a sports bar at all, but they do show the occasional popular stuff like the Rugby Six Nations and the World Cup. It’s always fun to pretend to be a LAD. Please give this place a visit.

2) The Alice House

283-285 West End Lane, London, NW6 1RD (West Hampstead) & 53-55 Salusbury Road, London, NW6 6NJ (Queens Park)

The Alice House West Hampstead

So there are two of these bad boys in the NW6 neck of the woods, and even if you live further afield they are definitely worth a visit. I think I prefer the West Hammy one, just because I am slightly in love with this area, but both are simply wonderful. The Queen's Park branch is bigger. They do lovely food, which is all reasonably priced. In the evening they play music and it turns into a bar you can have a bit of a bop to and a few drinks with your favourites.

3) Nonas

9 Fairhazel Gardens, London, NW6 3QE

This is a flippin’ Italian classic guys. It’s SO CHEAP. The food is average to delicious depending on what you choose but you can’t complain for the price. I would recommend going for breakfast because they are ‘da bomb’, srsly. The décor is perhaps a bit confused, but this just adds to its charming character. Winning.

4) Spicy Basil

165 Kilburn High Road, London, NW6 7HY

Spicy Basil Kilburn

OMGOMGOMG. I literally beg you to try this place. If you like Thai food, this place will tickle your pickle to no end. People that have been to Thailand (sadly, not myself) have said that the food is so similar to what you would get over there. It is rich, delicious, tantalizing, gorgeous, scrummy, yummy, and every other positive tasting adjectives there are out there. Best of all? It is SUPER cheaps. Like, I’m talkin’ a fiver for a meal that will actually fill you up. My recommendations: Pad Tai, Green Curry, Yellow Curry, Red Curry. ALL THE CURRY. NOM.

I've not actually dined in the restaurant, I have always taken it away as I wasn't that taken with the place itself. It could definitely use a lick of paint, but please don't let it put you off the outstanding food!

5) The Black Lion

295-297 West End Ln, London, NW6 1RD http://www.metropolitanpubcompany.com/our-pubs/the-black-lion/

The Black Lion West Hampstead

The second ‘Black Lion’ on my list is found in the beautiful West Hampstead area (a couple of doors down from the Alice House, the two make a good pairing for a great night out) – it’s cool, they offer loads of drinks and cocktails, the food is delish, what more could you want?  They have a beer garden so when the sun is out and the tan is on, get your little tushy out there and enjoy.

6) Small & Beautiful

351 Kilburn High Road, London, NW6 7QB

Small & Beautiful Kilburn

This place I believe is like a sister-company to Nonas. It’s small and its beautiful, obvs. It’s very similar in style to Nona’s in the fact that the décor is a bit… unique, but it adds to the character, and we all like a bit of character, don’t we. This is actually a French restaurant, and the menu is vast. They do super deals like a pizza and a glass of vino or beer for £7.95. You can’t go wrong!

Bon Appétit xx
